Each year our Auxiliary holds three fund raising events. The funds that are raised in these events are used to provide 'extras' for those people in Salvation Army programs, i.e. a monthly birthday dinner and gifts for the seniors who live in our William Booth Garden Apartments, special gifts for the ladies in our Village programs, items of need (not necessarily in the operating budget) such as a new stove for the program, new underwear for men at the Adult Rehabilitation Center, Bibles for the Center of Hope Corps, musical instruments for the Corps programs, and cribs for the Child Development Center program, among other.

Yard Sale: Each spring the ladies collect used items to be sold at a Yard Sale. They earn about $1500, the funds raised are used for the upkeep of our Peacock House. This is rather unusual, in that we maintain a lovely old home that once was the quarters for Colonel Peacock, headmaster for the Peacock Military Academy. The complex was sold to the Army in 1973 and we have kept up the grounds, the house (museum) and the records. The rest of the properties are updated, maintained and used by The Salvation Army Citadel Corps and their Boys & Girls Club.

Recycled Style Show: This event is held each spring at a local Country Club. The chair person and her committee spend many hours collecting gently used, quality items of clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories. A local dry-cleaner cleans the few items that are not already cleaned. They sort the clothing by size and price them ($5 - $40). The additional items are sorted and priced as well. Ladies from the Auxiliary and local celebrities are asked to model the ensembles at the Style Show and are allowed first pick of all items that they will model. A great friend to the Army and Auxiliary who professionally organizes style shows, scripts and works with the chairperson to make this an outstanding event. A theme is chosen and usually a category of styles is presented along with the regular categories, including summer wear, business attire, evening wear and casual. Decorations at the Country Club reflect the theme, table favors are packaged for each attendee, 15 - 20 door prizes are given away and the ladies have a wonderful time together at the luncheon. A second source of income for the day is the Silent Auction. Each of the ladies are asked to solicit very gently used (preferable new) items which are displayed in another room before the luncheon. The ladies and guests are allowed to bid on the items and at the ring of the bell (towards the end of the luncheon) the bids are closed and the lady bidding the highest is the proud owner of the donated items. We have had airplane tickets, restaurant meals, home decor, jewelry, art and services of all kinds donated. The combined income of this event is usually around $15,000 - $18,000.

Doll and Bear Show: This event takes place each Fall. The committee provides an assortment of unclothed dolls and bears to sewing guilds, individuals and 4-H Clubs, who will return them to us dressed in handcrafted outfits. Professional seamstresses and doll dressers judge the dolls and bears and award winners in 10 categories and an overall winner. The dolls are then auctioned at a lovely luncheon at a local Country Club. The dolls not winning ribbons are sold for $25 each (honorable mention dolls are priced separately). The bears sell for $20 each. Those not sold on the event day are given to little girls registered for our Christmas Angel Tree program. The second source of income on this day is an arts and crafts area. A committee of women work year round making lovely items to be sold. Wreaths, centerpieces, aprons, gift bags, many "Jar Gifts" such as hot chocolate, spiced teas, cookies and brownies in a jar, and soups bring in a very substantial amount of money. The combined income of this event is $11,000 - $14.000.
