"What are your dreams?" This was the question and focal point of Oscar Roan's speech. Mr. Roan played for the Cleveland Browns in 1975 and in 1974 for the Time Magazine All American Football Team as tight end. Mr. Roan captivated the attention of Club members as he spoke about his life and how it all began with a dream. He told Club members that reaching our dreams is an uphill battle and sometimes leads us off track unless it is through a relationship with Jesus Christ. He spoke of losing his direction which lead to a serious drinking problem and an unstable marriage, but through the help of an evangelist who led him to Christ, he gained a definite sense of direction and a real meaning for life! That is when he found true success.
Oscar Roan has a definite presence standing at 5 foot 18 inches. He through in a little math as humor when on sharp Club member called him on it and said, "Hey, there's not 18 inches...you mean 6 foot 6 inches". All the members laughed. Towering almost to the ceiling, Mr. Roan was a teddy bear when it came to mingling and signing autographs for our members. Each went away with a smile and clear message that Christ has to be the focal point of their dreams!!
