The Salvation Army celebrates 10 years of Hope

(San Antonio, TX 05/01/08) San Antonio dignitaries past and present will gather to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of The Salvation Army’s Hope Center,  the social services center of The Salvation Army in San Antonio.

 “Faces of Hope” Annual Banquet
Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 6:30 pm
at the Oak Hills Country Club
5403 Fredericksburg Rd.

The “Faces of Hope” Annual Banquet will feature a keynote address by AT&T Chairman Emeritus Ed Whitacre.  Honorees for the evening will be members of the 1994 Capital Campaign Steering Committee. Remarks by former San Antonio Mayor Lila Cockrell, Hispanic marketing pioneer Lionel Sosa, Frost Bank Senior Chairman Tom Frost and Major Henry Gonzalez, who were part of the 1994 Capital Steering Committee which raised funds for the Hope Center.

Ten years ago, The Salvation Army dedicated their Social Services Hope Center to meet the changing needs of our city’s indigent population. Now more than ever women, children, and others who never dreamed that they would need to reach out to The Salvation Army find themselves turning to our programs for help.

The 1994 Capital Steering committee members were instrumental in raising the money needed to provide a centralized home for our social services and family shelter, as well as our area command headquarters. Clients who have benefited from our diverse services will attend the event and will be available for interviews.
