The Salvation Army’s annual Civic Banquet – The Faces of Hope – recently celebrated 10th year anniversary of the Hope Center. But more importantly, it acknowledged the accomplishments of participants and graduates who exemplify the success we hope for in the lives of everyone who passes through our doors. The event was held the evening of May 6th at Oak Hills Country Club.

Ed Whitacre, chairman Emeritus of ATT&T was the Keynote Speaker and addressed an audience of 300 donors, sponsors and volunteers. Honorees for the evening were the 1994 Capital Campaign Steering Committee that raised the $5.7 million dollars needed to build the multi-programmed Hope Center.

The Steering Committee honorees were:  Ed Whitacre, Committee Chairman, Lila Cockrell, Robert Dickemper, Tom Frost, William Greehey, Lionel Sosa, Larry Walker and members of the 1994 Advisory Board.
Area Commander Major Albert Villafuerte recognized outstanding donors, organizations and companies for their 2007 contribution to the work of The Salvation Army.  Presentations were made to Ingram Park Auto Center for Angel Tree Sponsor, Wal*Mart for Christmas Red Kettle support, KCI for the employee volunteer spirit, Valero Energy Corporation for supporting the Summer Youth Programs and The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary for the continued financial and volunteer hour support.

Thanks were extended to Dave Rios, KONO radio and Beverly Houston vocalist for donating their time and talents to make the evening a great success for the guests and The Salvation Army Area command.
