Emergency
Assistance
We assist individuals
and families in crisis situations by providing vouchers
for limited assistance with utility bills, rent, gasoline,
bus tickets and lodging for one night. We also help with
food from our Food Pantry and give referrals to local thrift
stores for clothing. |

Home and Hospital Visits
Volunteers and
staff visit and offer companionship and prayer to those
homebound or in hospitals or nursing homes. We also deliver
The Salvation Army War Cry Magazine and/or Bibles to these
individuals. Carry each others burdens and
in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians

Services to the elderly
The New Braunfels
Salvation Army Advisory Council Members supervise and
participate in an exterior house-painting program for
elderly low-income homeowners. This is a joint community

groups.

Seasonal Programs
During the holiday
season, we provide food boxes for families for Thanksgiving
and Christmas. Children receive gifts and clothing through
our Christmas Angel Tree Program and new shoes from our
shoe program. We provide a five-day summer camp experience
for local children and at back-to-school time, we give families
new shoes and supplies for their school-aged children. |

Disaster Services
Our staff and
volunteers are prepared to respond to police and fire department
requests to provide disaster victims and workers with food,
water and moral support. These aides receive annual disaster
training to qualify for the relief work they do in representing
The Salvation Army. Several Advisory Council Members attended
local disaster drill training from the Comal County Emergency
Disaster Services at the Sheriff's Command Center. This
supplemental and important training prepares us as first-responders
in the event of a terrorist attack and we stand ready in
any way necessary to meet these needs of our citizens.
